A Minha Inspiracao - My Inspiration:
Português: Tanto o título "Sapatos de Lona" como o assunto deste livro foi-me inspirado numa das minhas idas a Portugal. Estávamos nos princípios dos anos oitenta. Existiam produtos estrangeiros de marca mas eram muito caros. Nem todos os podiam comprar. Esta ideia tornou-se mais real, quando no meu regresso de férias, ao desfolhar um album, os meus olhos, fixaram-se numa foto - Uma fotografia minha com uns tais históricos sapatos de lona e um vestido das Américas.
Americanizações!?…

E comecei a escrever: " ERAM SAPATOS DE POBRES…E CONTINUAM A SER… … TAMBÉM … SÃO PARA OS RICOS. E TODOS OS PODEM TER."
" MENINA DOS SAPATOS DE LONA
NÃO SEJA TOLEIRONA!"

Esta menina que é a personagem principal, no entanto, pode também ser um menino.

English: Both the title and subject of "Tennis Shoes," were inspired by one of my trips to Portugal in the 1980s. At the time, buying a pair of brand name tennis shoes was very expensive. When I returned from my trip and looked through my photo album, I noticed I was wearing some old tennis shoes with a dress from America. I was "Americanized!" This is when I started writing:
